A Letter to the Universe

Dear Universe,

2020 has been a hard year. It has had challenges I could never have imagined, even in my wildest dreams. Lives (including mine) were turned upside down and inside out.

2020 has also been an awesome year! I feel nervous about admitting, but I have to because I am so grateful! I have grown and blossomed in ways I could never have imagined, even in my wildest dreams. As my year was turned upside down, I gained a whole new perspective and a whole new way of living!

I didn’t get there by wishing for it or hoping for it, but by working for it. ~Estee Lauder

At the beginning of 2020, my career seemed on the up and up. I was leading a very influential initiative at a large and influential tech company. I was flying to California almost every week for work, surrounding myself with smart, dedicated and driven people. The stars were also aligning as I started my coaching and sound healing business. It was only February 2020 and I was already making great progress on my year’s goals.

Then along with the rest of the world it all came to a screeching halt as the tsunami of COVID took over. We were all sent home — sent to figure out how to live and survive locked up in our houses, going stir crazy, entertaining kids and separated from support of friends and family. To add to my situation I had to further separate from my life as I was called on to move back to my childhood home and care for my mother who was suffering a non-COVID health issue herself.

For a bit I wallowed in my mis-fortune, blaming the world situation, our politicians, our society, my mother’s health issue, you name it, for cancelling my plans for the year and preventing my success. I could have wasted the year wishing things were different, being angry at the world or my family, checking out for the year and just hoping for it to all go away…maybe next year.

Instead, I got to “work” looking for opportunity in the challenges. Realizing that I couldn’t change the circumstances, but I could change my response to them. I got to work prioritizing my mother over my work, spending time with her and caring for her physically, mentally and spiritually. I determined to learn everything I could about taking my new business online and quickly executing on it. I endeavored to connect with individuals and teams to help them flourish, find silver linings and balance the new and changed responsibilities.

For the last 7 months, I have focused on how I was going to climb the mountain in front of me instead of drowning in the valley of victimhood and not ever trying. As a result I found my courage and conviction and feel more grounded than ever. I have a growing coaching and sound healing business that is touching lives, including mine, quite significantly. I have up-leveled my corporate role and am seeing the impact of leading initiatives, people and teams to successful outcomes. I feel empowered and inspired by empowering others.

I am so incredibly humbled in this experience of 2020.

Thank you to each and everyone of you for your support this year.

And don’t hesitate for a second if there is anything I can do for you in return.

Amanda
